The Registration Guide for Free Agents
UNC INTRAMURAL FREE AGENTS
Looking for a team? The Intramural Sports program does not form teams of individuals, but rather helps our potential participants locate others who would like to form a team or already have a team and need a few extra players. We call individuals looking for teams "free agents." As a free agent, you can join a team at any point in the season. Although this is true, we recommend that you start searching for a team 1-2 weeks before the start of the sport's registration begins. See our Schedule for registration open and close dates.
UNC Intramural Free Agents group on Facebook
To connect with other free agents, visit our UNC Intramural Free Agents group on Facebook! We encourage you to list when you are available to play (days and times) and include some basic information about your skill level, whether you want a recreational or competitive team, and the division you want to join (men's, women's, and/or co-rec).
If you have a team assembled, but need a few more players to complete your team registration, visit the free agent page before registration begins. Once you have enough members, you will then be able to register your team once sign-ups begin.
Getting Connected at the Game Site
If the free agents group on facebook does not work for you, but you still would like to play, go to where your sport is being played to see if any team needs extra players. You will find that some teams are practicing in an open field and you can connect with them on the spot! You may also discover that a team may need more players to play a game that night. Upon accepting an invitation to play you will need to present your UNC OneCard at the check-in window.
If you happen to join a team on-site, you'll want to be properly equipped for the game. Reviewing our Intramural Handbook would be a great place to ensure you have the right gear for the game. Remember that you can only play on one men's or women's team and one co-rec team in a sport, and will not be able to change teams for a sport once you've signed in for the first time.
