Outdoor Education

The Outdoor Education program, located at the Outdoor Education Center (OEC), includes two main areas: a low (team building) and high challenge course, and an expedition program (including WAFFYS, a special opportunity for first year students). Each program offers students, university groups, and outdoor enthusiasts a variety of invigorating and empowering opportunities in outdoor education through a process of experiential learning, or "learning by doing."

Carolina Outdoor Education challenges participants to reach beyond their perceived personal limits - physically, mentally and socially, fosters greater appreciation for our natural environment, and develops leadership abilities.

The OEC is a 20-acre wooded, green space-- just a 10 minute walk from the Student Union. Additional recreational opportunities at the OEC include 11 tennis courts, 3 sand volleyball courts, and an 18-hole disc golf course. [directions to the OEC]
