CAMPUS REC FACILITY SUPERVISOR

Description - The facility supervisor is responsible for overall enforcement of all facility policies and procedures during scheduled shifts. The Facility Supervisor will supervise facility monitors and ensure all users adhere to facility regulations. CAMPUS REC FACILITY MONITOR

Description - The facility monitor is responsible for enforcing identification and membership policies by verifying privileges of students, faculty/staff, or other patrons. As the “front-line” for the Campus Recreation program, the facility monitor must courteously greet patrons and uphold all departmental policies and procedures. OFFICE ASSISTANT

Description - The front office staff has a variety of responsibilities -- Greet patrons, provide information on campus recreation programs and facilities, handle registration for intramural sports, special events, and belay certification, perform general office duties (phone courtesy, filing, copying, and other duties as assigned.)
Qualifications - Interest in Campus Recreation/sports, strong interpersonal, oral communication, and customer-service skills, enjoy being in a fun/recreational office environment.

CHALLENGE COURSE FACILITATOR

Description - Be able to facilitate team-building initiatives and skills, interact with all types of people, work outdoors, and manage large groups of participants in a safe and professional manner on the Low and High Challenge Course. Leadership, communication, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills are essential. Have the ability to learn knot tying, belay on the High challenge course, and properly use all other High course equipment.
Qualifications - Currently be enrolled as a student, be on staff or be a faculty member at the University of North Carolina . Possess current standard First Aid/ CPR certifications, or in the process of certifying. Previous challenge course experience and a willingness to learn are assets. There is an extensive training process for all new facilitators.

FITNESS MONITOR

WALL MONITOR

Description - Be able to demonstrate basic climbing techniques. Manage large groups of people in a safe and professional manner. Check climber's UNC One Card, Belay Certification Card and Climbing Equipment Card. Issue equipment to climbers. Inspect and inventory all equipment. Observe all climbers, paying close attention to harnesses, tie in knots, and belay techniques. Have a professional manner, both in appearance and attitude. Be able to answer questions in a positive attitude that concern the climbing wall.
Qualifications - Currently be enrolled as a student, be on staff or be a faculty member at the University of North Carolina. Possess current standard First Aid certifications, or in the process of certifying. Previous climbing experience that is applicable to wall facilitation or a strong enthusiasm and a willingness to learn these things.

Employment with Intramural Sports

SPORT DIRECTOR

Description - The Sport Director's responsibilities are two fold:
1) Day-to-Day programming, which includes – programming assigned sports from beginning to end, in addition to conducting officials’ clinics and captain meetings when needed.
2) Night Duty- One night each week, the Sport Director will be responsible for every facet of sport activities running that night. The Sport Director on duty will ensure the adherence to and enforcement of Campus Recreation policies; risk management in regard to facilities and sporting events; supervision and evaluation of sport officials, scorekeepers, and supervisors; keeping daily activities running smoothly and on time. Supervising building and field operations; visible presence in facility and on the field, turning in all pertinent reports, attending all mandatory meetings during the academic year, and operating a two way communicator.
Qualifications - Knowledge of campus recreation programs, facilities, and intramural rules, interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure, ability to work evenings and weekends, prior supervisory experience preferred, leadership skills.

INTRAMURAL PROGRAM SUPERVISOR

Description - Monitor the sport competition by being a constant presence around the field or courts, being open to questions or concerns from other staff members or participants, and directing any other questions to the sport director on duty or office assistant. Report risk management problems and complete injury report forms, conduct equipment inspections and inventories, explain and clarify departmental policies, procedures, and intramural sport rules. Attend mandatory officials' meetings and clinics. Qualifications - Ability to make quick decisions, interest in sports and recreation, good interpersonal skills.

Description - Officiate Intramural Sports/Special Events, attend mandatory official’s clinics and meetings, assist sport supervisor in preparing game area/facility, enforce rules and regulations of sport, and of UNC Intramural Sports, and fill out sportsmanship rating forms.
Qualifications - Interest in Sports and Recreation, current knowledge of sport rules or willingness to learn officiating protocol of sports, good decision-making skills, and good interpersonal skills.
